I have been looking on both; the Michigan and USA gov. web sites for a chance at obtaining a new job and also beginning a new chapter in my life with a new career. I looked for about a year and finally was given a break. I'm working for the Michigan State Police, (MSP).
I am learning how to be a dispatcher for them. Just walking into the dispatching area on the first day was amazing. I had no idea that something this cool existed, except in the movies and tv shows. When I was young doing construction, I began seeking employment as a Paramedic because I realized, like most people do, that my mind was beginning to write checks that my body couldn't pay... In another words, I wasn't waking up as fresh and ready to go back out and do the "hard days work" thing any more. Now, after almost 18yrs of doing EMS work, my body is showing me signs that I might not be walking upright in 10yrs due to all of the every day lifting and carrying people for all of those yrs.
I was blessed with this opportunity to begin a new career, it may or may not be what I had in mind for the "END GAME" but it gives me new chances to continue into my old fart yrs and allows me to think and focus more on my quality of life. After all, the healthier I can remain, the longer I can continue to kick the girls butts in competitive sports ;-)
