As I said in a previous post, I had ridden Sunday,Monday and Kim and I rode at Holdridge on wed morning prior to the race. We recently started remodeling a small cottage in Muskegon. Wednesday we worked from like, 5pm till 3:30am then crashed on the floor.
Thursday we ran errons then worked till 4am.
Friday I was suppose to leave by noon then go down to Detroit and run around before just making it up to BFB for a new chain before the bike race on Sat. YEAH, the carpet guys came @ like, 10:30 then Kim and I worked our butts off doing "busy work" around the house till 5pm. I decided it would be better to stay one last night with Kim and the girls before leaving them for a few wks.
MAN MY LEGS ARE FRIED! Due to all of the up and down work with the prep work before the carpet could be laid.
Well, we all got to bed around midnight... I was up by 5am on race day, then ran out the door w/ a few goodies Kim had bought for me the day before. I was tired, hungry, and not sure if I could finish this one. I arrived at Stony with a half hr to get ready. I scarfed down a Cliff bar and a banana then washed it down with a Red Bull! John Osgood gave me some Hammer products to help me survive the race with, (thanks BRO).
The race began and I swore I told myself to quit at least 5 time in the first 5miles of the race... My stubbornness would not allow me to quit! I had the strongest single track ridding I have ever put together in the 7yrs I have been riding now!!! B - U - T, the two track was another story, I just didn't have the endurance in my legs to sustain the RPMS needed to be competitive. No cramping this time, but my shoulders were killing me!!! I need more weight lifting... I ate half of a banana each lap and had a cliff bar the last lap. It really made the difference for me.
Kim made a bet with me that I wouldn't finish, I think it was to get me charged up... It worked, because I was not going to let her tell me I lost the bet, LOL. It took me 4 1/2HRS to finish... I'll take it considering I didn't know if my shoulder would let me ever race again!
WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU JUST MAKES YOU STRONGER!
